What are your thoughts on how finance industry recruiters will perceive a Pass/Fail notation when reviewing student applications? What impact do you think this will have when assessing student profiles in very competitive sectors like capital markets/investment banking/management consulting? 00:31:38 Lauren Starr: Sorry I missed how many Geotab is hiring 00:31:50 Basak Mahony: 60-70 every term 00:32:05 Michelle Reyes: Geotab hires up to 70 students per term 00:32:55 Lauren Starr: Thanks! 00:33:22 Robert Wooden: I echo Mai Gee's question on marks for CPP.... 00:35:46 Mai-Gee Hum: To all panelists: For full-time hiring needs, do you see/foresee decrease in demand for certain functions and majors (i.e., no change for IT and finance roles but decrease in Marketing, etc.) 00:39:00 Amy McLellan: @Michelle - Can speak about the virtual onboard process? What did it look like? Best practices? Other tools or resources to share? 00:44:03 Doug Gallant: Have any of the employers thought about the legacy of moving to virtual on boarding? What lessons do you anticipate learning to sustain once the COVID situation abates? 00:44:05 Darlene Hnatchuk: For panelists: in terms of tools (i.e. computers) students use to work from home, are there concerns or plans to mitigate use of personal computers to access your networks in security...or are these roles delayed? 00:45:46 Mai-Gee Hum: To all panelists: given the uncertainty on whether large gatherings will be permitted, what are your thoughts on virtual career fairs? Anyone have experience with them? Pros and cons? What would be a reasonable participation fee for employers? 00:48:49 Cheryl Kuehn: I am curious whether employers perceive that the wage subsidy offered to companies will make a significant impact on companies being able to go ahead with planned recruitment. 00:49:39 Cara Krezek: Just want to say thank you for the leadership you are providing in meaningful WIL opportunities - thank you for speaking openly and supporting Quality WIL 00:51:16 Nancy Sammon: IF you push out start dates, will you compensate for the time missed ? 00:52:29 Erica Chan: Public accounting learnt this lesson really hard in 2008-09 when campus numbers were reduced, the whole industry suffered with having enough Seniors 3 years down the road 00:53:03 Cara Krezek: CEWIL is launching a #WILfromHome social media campaign this week - please go to our website www.cewilcanada.ca later this week for the toolkit so these examples can be leveraged to showcase your leadership - as well as the schools to leverage your staff and students and other industry partners who are able to support #WILfromHome. As Michelle said - sometimes it's exploring what students can do and it's a great way to showcase for those who can 00:57:15 Irene Galea: To panelists: Do you plan to make any changes to your assessment tools to measure student success? 00:59:41 Lauren Starr: On a recent virtual fair, I noticed participants didn't seem to know how to behave. It really just seems to be a chat window with a bunch of people. Feel like there are better ways recruit 01:00:01 Rachelle Ireson: To the panelists: Do you have any suggestions for how we can reach a wider audience of employers to guide them on options for the co-op terms? I find the folks who already regularly work with the career offices seem to be on top of things, but many others don't know what they don't know. We've been able to come up with creative solutions to keep students in the upcoming placements, but often that conversation starts with an employer thinking that cancelling co-op is the only option first. 01:03:13 Bruce Wilson: Excellent question, Rachel. 01:05:56 Lauren Starr: Rachelle, would love to hear what some of your creative solutions to keep students in placements have been 01:06:25 Rachelle Ireson: Absolutely Lauren. Shoot me a message on LinkedIn and we can chat :) 01:08:12 Rachelle Ireson: If anyone wants access to the McMaster tools mentioned by Michelle, feel free to message me on LinkedIn :) 01:08:55 Kathleen Winningham: Thanks to Brainstorm, Graham and the panelists for a great, informative call. Stay safe everyone! 01:09:08 Louise Anne Côté: To panelists: Would you share these assessment tools with us so career centres can advise students on how to prepare themselves for the new workplace reality 01:10:24 Nancy Sammon: Thank you Graham 01:10:27 Kifah Alramahi: Great session, thank you all. 01:10:41 Linda Lugli: Thank you. 01:10:47 Mary-Anne Moroz: Thank you - great session! Nice to hear from the employers. Might like to have heard from some smaller employers as to their challenges.
